Office closure infuriates farmers

Almoradí town hall has objected to the closure of the regional government’s agriculture office in the municipality. Mayoress María Gómez said the decision will also have a serious impact on Daya Nueva, Daya Vieja, Benejúzar, Benijójar, Dolores, Catral, Guardamar, San Fulgencio, Rojales, Formentera, Algorfa and Los Montesinos. The office helps farmers to with all kinds of professional procedures, including applications for aid they are entitled to. Only this year Almoradí town hall agreed to pay for the maintenance of the premises. She asked for the office to be kept open and for recognition of the very important role played by the Vega Baja’s food and farming sector, particularly that of Almoradí.
