Promoting pomegranates in Paris
ELCHE’S pomegranates are now being advertised on the side of taxis in Paris.
A spokesman for the local protected designation of origin (DO) board noted that a total of 50 vehicles will carry the images and slogans, replacing those which had been operating in London and Berlin. He said that they are trying to reinforce the message that Elche’s pomegranates are of top quality in a country which is already the main export destination for the fruit – a total of 40%.
The campaign contains the words ‘santé’ (health) to remind the French public of the benefits that pomegranates can have for regular eaters.
DO president Francisco Oliva noted that there was ‘still a margin to increase imports’ to France – and to show off the product to tourists in Paris.
