Artists share pleasure of painting
A colourful lucky bag of pictures provides a diverse range of subjects in the current exhibition by artists of the Painting for Pleasure Art Club.
The painters meet every Monday in the Social Centre, Rafol d’Almunia, near Ondara, and the show provides members to go public and show off their talents.
The Centre d’Exposicions in Carrer d’Hopital in the centre of Pego is home to this year’s annual exhibition and there is a final chance to see it today (Friday November 9) between 10.00 and
13.00 and 17.15 and 19.00.
A dozen artists have their work on display and many pictures are for sale; entrance is free and for anyone in the area, it is well worth popping in to enjoy and appreciate their work.
The exhibition opened on Monday evening; sadly, Jan Calderwood, who founded the group in 2008 and is one of its three art teachers, could not be present.
Phil Mansell (pictured) took up oil painting two years ago and documents the characters seen in the bars of Birmingham’s public houses in the fifties – as a contrast he also captures the joy of Spanish fiestas in his pictures.
