TWO men claiming to be Iranian nationals and lacking any form of ID arrived at Exeter airport on Tuesday morning on a flight from Alicante.

The incident has been reported by several UK newspapers which state that the two men arrived on a Flybe flight and had boarded the aircraft separately at Alicante-Elche airport.

Eyewitnesses quoted that both men pretended they were fainting as they reached the passport control gate.

They were stopped and admitted to not having a passport and claimed to be from Iran.

Some passengers claim they heard one of them say they had torn-up their passports, but how or why they were allowed to board without any say documentation remains a mystery.

Some passengers tweeted questions on the popular social network asking why Flybe had allowed this.

The company insisted it would not allow anyone onboard without documentation and that security checks at airports of origin would ensure that - which appear to pass the hot potato onto passport control services at Alicante-Elche.
