BLUE ZONE parking is now free in Moraira, after the town mayor, Carlos Linares, kept his promise that he would axe parking charges.

His fulfilment followed an announcement in 2018 from the concession owner, who indicated they would like to introduce a mobile application scheme where drivers could pay to park on the spot, rather than find a meter.

“From the council, we fully reject the proposal of company, especially when it has a cost for the users. The end of 2018 is the date when the contract finishes with the company that regulates the parking in TeuladaMoraira. My intention, and that of the council, is that while we are in this town hall, and while I am mayor, when- ever we can we will avoid our citizens paying for parking” he said at the time.

From 1 January, he ordered all meters in blue zones to state ‘Blue zone abolished, free parking’.

His initiative will no doubt be appreciated by residents and tourists alike.
