New roundabout underway

FOLLOWING years of campaigning, a roundabout is finally under construction at the entrance to the San Rafael urbanisation in Alfaz del Pi which is a well known accident hotspot. Some years ago a young motorcyclist was killed in an accident there and residents put pressure on the council to act.

Now finally the diggers have moved in and work has begun. Speaking to CBN, the supervisor of construction said that works should be completed by the start of the summer, roughly six months from now and the road approaching the roundabout will be widened very slightly.

Trees on the opposite embankment are being cut down to accommodate this and yellow lines approaching the area have been painted, denoting roadworks.

For those using the CV-763 heading out of Alfaz towards La Nucia/Benidorm you may need to allow a little extra time over the coming weeks and months.
