Cyclist, 81, critical after Verger fall
A pensioner was rushed to Alicante General Hospital on Tuesday morning after falling off his bicycle in El Verger.
Friends of the 81-year-old, who were out on their bikes with him, called emergency services when they found him unconscious on the tarmac of the N-332 at about 10.30. Paramedics stabilised him and strapped him to a stretcher, as he appeared to have suffered several broken bones and multiple cuts and bruises.
Given his age and the severity of his injuries, he was air-lifted to the provincial capital. His condition has not been confirmed.
