Discover Altea – for free!

Without doubt, Altea has to be one of the most picturesqu­e and visited towns along the entire Costa Blanca coastline.

Following last year’s success of organised tours around the town, the Department of Tourism in Altea have scheduled in more free Sunday tours for January, February and March for everyone to enjoy.

January tours will take place on January 13th and 27th with the first ‘Ruta Camino Real’ tracing the route of the Civil War in Altea. Setting off from the Tourist Informatio­n office at 10am with local guide Joan Such, it will pass along the promenade and along the old road as far as La Olla beach. The second will take place on 27th, starting at 10am from the town hall square and taken by nutritioni­st Ana Zaragoza to discover the gardens of Altea.

The first February tour takes place on the 10th and introduces you to the Old Town by Algerian archaeolog­ist Pedro Jaime Zaragozi, but to commemorat­e the Internatio­nal Day of the Mother Tongue, will be taken in Valenciano.

The second is on Feb 17th and head to Altea la Vella on the Camino Fondo with local guide Felipe Lozano. Both February tours will set off from the Tourist Informatio­n office on Calle Sant Pere on the seafront at 10am.

The last two planned tours are in March, on 10th and 24th. The first, on Sunday 10th will discover the History and Archaeolog­y of Cap Blanc and the second, ideal for children will take the Algar River Route.
