Montgo Golf Society

-

Montgo Golf Society's 2019 kicked off with a chilly start as we were delayed due to frost.

It's such a hardship to sit in a cosy clubhouse drinking coffee whilst waiting for the fairways to defrost. It didn't take long for the Spanish sun to raise the temperature sufficiently for us to get the go ahead.

Shortly thereafter we were stripping down to shirt sleeves as the temperature continued to soar.

This week's sponsor, Richard Fox, set the right tone for the coming year by undertaking his own presentation. A tradition I hope to see continued, thereby giving possible future captains a little bit of practice perhaps.

Our all boy podium was headed by Alan Skinner with a very impressive four point gap between him and our next player. Alan scored a fantastic 41 points, earning himself a whopping 2 shot cut. So very well done to him. I'm sure like all of us hel´l be chuffed to bits with that until the next game when he sees how few shots hes´ getting.

Second place went to Keith Cottrell with 37 points, while Peter Gardiner took third spot with 36 points.

There were three NTP prizes available, the first of which went to Georgie Turner on the third with 9.32m. Second shot on the 5th went to Brian Redfearn with 4.07 m and Stella Fox hit 3-08m on the 16th.

Just one coveted Montgo ball was awarded this week and that went to Brian Redfearn.

Next week is a stableford competition sponsored by Ruth Strasser.
