Rescued dogs are blessed
Animal charity APASA is holding its annual party for the traditional blessing of animals and to mark the festival day of San Antonio, the patron saint of animals.
The fun starts at the Javea shelter at 13.00 on Saturday January 19 and it always has a special significance for the charity, founded in 1999, because it takes its name from the saint; the Asociacion Protectora de Animales de San Antonio.
Each of the dogs currently being cared for by APASA will be blessed by the priest and people who have rescued a pet from the shelter in Cami de Las Sorts frequently return with their dog with an appointment to meet the holy water.
The afternoon also promises music, food and drink, tombola and a variety of stalls. Anyone willing to take along a homemade cake to donate will be made most welcome too!
