Swim gets people deeply dippy

People dug deep into their pockets to support the annual New Year’s Day sponsored swim in Javea – raising more than €3,000.

Sponsorship and a bucket collection among the crowd that gathers at the Arenal beach to watch the colourful event – many swimmers don fancy dress for their dip – contribute the largest part of the total.

Organised by Karen and Nigel Rushton of the Lancashire Bruja bar, the proceeds from this year’s swim will be divided to help children attending special schools in Denia and Calpe.

Receipts from how the €3,074 is spent will later be posted in the bar, allowing visitors to see where their donations went.
