Goodbye and Thank You

Veteran actress, Dame June Whitfield passed away peacefully aged 93 and tributes have been pouring in from stars of both the small and big screen.

She had an extraordinary career in British comedy, stretching from Hancock’s

Half Hour, Terry and June but best remembered for playing Eddie’s mum in Absolutely Fabulous.

Her career began back in 1953 in the comedy Take It From Here and she also appeared in a number of Carry On films and the long running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine.

In her last interview, recorded less than two months ago for radio she said that she didn’t like watching television anymore as there was “too much sex and swearing” and it was all too PC now – something that many will relate to and agree with!
