Following yonder star
BUMPER crowds welcomed the Three Kings to Jávea for the annual parade through the streets, this year given the Disney treatment with an appearance from Mickey Mouse and pals.
Balthasar, Melchior and Gaspar and their entourages – bearing the all important gifts – were given a rapturous welcome by the thousands of people lining the streets of the port, and later the old town in a repeat performance.
Their majesties follow a star and the living Bible story also features Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus along with all the animals you might meet in a reallife Bethlehem stable.
Youngsters dart in and out of the parade to scoop up the sweets thrown by those taking part in the spectacle while at the end of the route march, proud parents and their offspring patiently queue to meet royalty and the youngsters are photographed receiving a gift.
Afterwards there is always a party atmosphere as people seek refreshment and the chance for first-timers to reflect and wonder on the little bit of magic they have just witnessed in Spain.
