Police raid ‘calle cannabis’
Information from a variety of sources about an organised gang that was dealing drugs, especially marijuana, in Orihuela city led National Police to arrest five suspects.
A spokesman for the force revealed that officers also seized a 9mm pistol with ammunition and more than 700 cannabis plants. The suspects were taking great precautions to evade attention from the police but officers located a house where they believed the drugs were being grown and stored. However, it turned out that the drugs were actually being hidden in eight houses along the same street.
Each of the suspects was identified as having very specific duties within the gang, such as lookouts, transport and sales.
The raids on the homes were carried out in coordination.
Officers arrested three women and two men aged between 19 and 51, who have been handed over to a court in the city.
