Cannabis club owners arrested in Torrevieja

- By Alex Watkins awatkins@cbnews.es

AFTER Guardia Civil in Torrevieja caught an 18-year-old youth passing drugs to a minor in the street on March 12 at around 02.30, the subsequent investigation led to the arrests of two more people.

Officers employed various means to discover the home, also in Torrevieja, where the marijuana in question had been grown, explained a spokesman for the force.

A search of the premises found that it had a room especially for growing the plantation, one for drying it out, and another for packaging it to be sold.

It was discovered that the owners of the property, aged 52 and 53, also managed a cannabis club in San Pedro del Pinatar, which officers also went to and searched.

There they found extensive evidence that this was not actually a non-profit association and alleged it was actually used for distributing drugs around the area.

During this second search, officers seized 735grams of marijuana buds, 802g of cannabis extract, 82 cannabis plants being grown, 17 readymade joints and €575 in cash.

A court has already released the suspects until their trial.
