Murderer sentenced

THE MAN who suffocated his partner in Valencia after beating her repeatedly has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The jury saw proven beyond reasonable doubt that on July 16, 2017, the accused hit his partner several times on the face, head and other body parts, causing several fractures.

While stunned from the blows, the offender strangled her until fracturing her larynx, and then finally suffocated her with a pillow. He then took his partner’s son to a local hamburger restaurant and left him there while he returned to the house and set fire to the room with the mother’s lifeless body.

In light of all these facts, the offender has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, and will have to pay €160,000 in compensation to the son of the deceased, as well as over €95,000 to her father and sisters.
