INSTALLATION of an adapted shower (see photo) and wider wooden walkways suitable for people with reduced mobility are among the improvements that have been made to beaches in Guardamar del Segura.

Councillor for beaches Ana Martínez explained that these initiatives were among the requirements for the municipality to obtain three Blue Flags – for Playas Centro, Roqueta and Moncayo, plus another one for the Marina de las Dunas.

A base at Playa Roqueta, which is staffed by Red Cross personnel, also offers adapted changing rooms, a reserved shaded area and equipment to help people with disabilities to go in the sea.

“The Blue Flags show we have high environmental standards, and good services and safety for users,” she said.
