Top marks for Torrevieja

Costa Blanca News (South Edition) - - News - [email protected]

By Dave Jones SEA BATHING areas in Torrevieja are all of ‘excellent’ quality, according to a report by the regional department for the environment.

Councillor for beaches Javier Manzanares noted that the coalition council was very pleased that they had received the highest available ranking. He explained that samples had been taken at eight different points on the coast – Torrelamata, Cabo Cervera, Playa de los Locos, Playa del Cura, the pools off Paseo Juan Aparicio, Playa de los Náufragos, Mar Azul and Cala Piteras – during the summer. These have been analysed and the regional government has reported back.

“The regional environment department evaluates the quality of the water and they then give classifications which range from ‘insufficient’ to ‘ex- cellent’,” he said.

“We are very proud that Torrevieja has been given top marks for all the areas.”

He reminded that the sea and beaches are one of the main attractions for tourists who visit the municipality.
