TV se­ries cre­ator con­firms con­tacts to shoot film based on the ITV show

By Irena Bodnarec Der­ren Lit­ten, writer and cre­ator of the Benidorm se­ries has con­firmed that he is in talks about a 'Benidorm movie which will be based on the Benidorm Live stage show pro­duc­tion which is cur­rently tour­ing across the UK'.

ITV ex­ec­u­tives axed the tele­vi­sion show after 10 se­ries this year fol­low­ing dwin­dling rat­ings, leav­ing die-hard fans dev­as­tated… but many lo­cals re­lieved.

The Live stage show started in the au­tumn and will fin­ish an eight-month run in April 2019, with many of the pop­u­lar char­ac­ters tak­ing part.

Jake Canuso, who plays Span­ish bed-hop­ping bar­man Ma­teo is the only ac­tor to have ap­peared in ev­ery sin­gle episode since the show started in 2007 and ap­pears along­side Sher­rie Hew­son, Tony Maud­s­ley, Ja­nine Du­vit­ski, Adam Gillen and Shel­ley Long­worth.

Der­ren even wrote a part for him­self in the TV se­ries and ap­peared in a cameo role as Elvis the chauf­feur, driv­ing Hol­ly­wood star Joan Collins, By Irena Bodnarec PUPILS from IES L’Arabi sec­ondary school at­tended school in their slip­pers as part of a cam­paign to raise aware­ness of gen­der vi­o­lence.

The cam­paign aims to pro­mote the val­ues of equal­ity, re­spect and tol­er­ance amongst school age chil­dren and young adults.
