Oliva wins back Q awards for beach quality
By Samantha Kett OLIVA'S beaches have won back all their 'Q' for 'quality' awards and will keep its four blue flags for the 2019 season.
The Pau Pi, Aigua Blanca and Aigua Morta beaches have been able to renew both, whilst the Terranova-Burguera has kept its blue flag and, along with the Rabdells and the Oliva side of Les Deveses – which is geographically in El Verger but owned by Dènia (Marina Alta) – have renewed their ISO 14001 kitemarks.
These prestigious awards denote exceptional quality in terms of tourism, including safety, hygiene, disability access and caring for the environment.
First aid, lifeguard services, waste management, cleaning and maintenance, toilets, foot-showers, wooden walkways, and one-off events and entertainment on the beaches are judged.
Whilst the blue flag is a worldwide award, the 'Q' certificate comes from the Spanish Institute for Quality in Tourism (ICTE).
