Jalón rapist jailed for six years
By Jo Pugh AN ALICANTE court has sentenced a 27-year-old man to six years in prison for raping a young woman in Jalón, and threatening both her and a friend.
The events occurred during the night of November 30, 2016 when the accused and the victim left a pub together where they had just met during a party. At 22:30, the man asked the victim to accompany him to his car to pick up tobacco, and the young woman told her friends that she would return immediately.
However, the individual started his car and drove away from the parking area to a deserted spot nearby.
Without warning, he forced the young woman to perform a sexual act on him, before roughly pulling her clothing off and raping her.
The terrified victim managed to send a message to her friends on her mobile phone via WhatsApp but the accused drove her back to the vicinity of the pub and left her there.
After a while, the man made several calls from his phone to a friend of the victim, a girl named Marta, whose number he had taken earlier.
The calls were left unanswered, but several audio messages were left where the defendant, among other things, said “I'm going to kill you” and “I'm going for you, Marta, the first thing I'm going to do with you is Marta del Castillo.”
This was the name of a young woman murdered in Se- villa, and whose body has never been found. The man, known only as DGC, is from the town of Vigo in Galicia.
As well as receiving a prison term, he was also banned from approaching the woman for five years once he is released, and must pay his victim €12,000 for moral damage and €400 more for injuries suffered during the attack.
For the threats made, he must pay a daily fine of €6 for two months.
