Costa Levante News - - CB LIVE -

By Barry Wright NOW that we are into the new year and with Three Kings night just one sleep away it’s time to have a look at some of the festivals that are taking place in Spain in the coming 12 months.

This is with a view to asking Balthasar, Melchior and Gaspar for tickets as a present.

The first of these is the fifth Fuzzville garage rock and punk festival at the Magic Robin Hood Resort in Benidorm on March 22-24.

The event is being headlined by the mythical Atlanta punks Carbonas, who will be ably backed by fellow Atlantans, Barreracudas, The Queers and many more.

Further information available from fuzzville.es.

Next up is Primavera Sound which takes place at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona from May 30-June 1.

This eclectic festival annually attracts some of the biggest music makers on the scene, plus, more importantly, some of the new movers and shakers and cult acts that it is difficult to find performing elsewhere.

This year’s event is also ground-breaking as the line-up is equally split between male and female artists.

Full details are available from www.primaverasound.es.

Next up we have the Download Festival, an event that annually gets lovers of anything heavy chomping at the bit.

The event takes place at La Caja Mágica in Madrid on June 28-30 and is being headlined by Scorpions, Slipknot and Tool.

Further information can be obtained from www.downloadfestival.es. is

A little further away, but no less rewarding is the Músicos en la Naturaleza Festival. This one-day event, situated in the beautiful Sierra de Gredos mountain range to the east of Madrid, is being headlined by none other than Rod Stewart. More information and tickets are available from www.musicosenlanaturaleza.net.

One of the country’s biggest upcoming festivals Mad Cool, continues to go from strength to strength and the 2019 edition appears to be no exception.

The festival takes place at the Espacio Mad Cool in Valdebebas, Madrid from July 11- 13 and features the likes of The Cure, The National, Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, Smashing Pumpkins and many more.

Full information can be obtained from www.madcoolfestival.es.

The 25th edition of the Benicàssim festival takes place in the town after which it is named on July 18-21. To date not many acts have been announced, however festival goers can be assured that those that have, Lana del Rey and The 1975 will be backed by a more than able cast.

Further details from fiberfib.com.

Next up we have one of the Costa Blanca’s biggest musical attractions of the year. This being Benidorm’s Low Festival which takes place on July 26-28 and features headline acts such as New Order, Foals and Bastille, with many more acts yet to be announced. Tickets and more information are available through lowfestival.es.

Last but not least we have the Leyendas del Rock (legends of rock) festival which takes place in Villena on August 7-10.

Although only one of the three headline acts, Airbourne, has been announced there is currently a strong undercard that boasts the likes of Dee Snider, Rose Tattoo and Cradle of Filth. With many more bands yet to be announced, the festival is set to become a heavy rock fans dream outing.

Further details can be found at www.leyendasdelrockfestival.com.

These are just a few of the events that take place throughout the country every year.

When details of the larger festivals are released they will be included in the Big Gig Guide.

Happy days.
