Benissa beaches lighten up

Costa Levante News - - NEWS - By Jo Pugh

THE INSTALLATION of a new lighting system has recently been completed in the coastal area of Benissa, specifically in La Fustera and Altamira.

The works, which had a budget of €32,768, were funded by a grant from Alicante provincial council under the programme of financially sustainable investments. They represent an important improvement, both in lighting quality and energy efficiency, by using the latest LED technology.

With the new lighting, Benissa council expects to see considerable reductions in their respective energy bills. “These investments respond to demands that we have detected are necessary in lighting, asphalting and general services. At the same time a service is offered which is much more in line with the needs mentioned by the residents of the affected area in the open meetings we have held” said Manual Juan, councillor for urban planning.

In the words of Xavi Tro, responsible for Works and Services, “This action, together with others recently made around the coastal area, allow us to reduce the gap between this area and the urban area of the town, making investments where deserved and too often forgotten, unjustly, by previous governments” added Xavi Tro, councillor for works and services.
