Dis­cover Al­tea – for free!

By Irena Bodnarec With­out doubt, Al­tea has to be one of the most pic­turesque and vis­ited towns along the en­tire Costa Blanca coast­line.

Fol­low­ing last year’s suc­cess of or­gan­ised tours around the town, the De­part­ment of Tourism in Al­tea have sched­uled in more free Sun­day tours for Jan­uary, Fe­bru­ary and March for ev­ery­one to en­joy.

Jan­uary tours will take place on Jan­uary 13th and 27th with the first ‘ Ruta Camino Real’ trac­ing the route of the Civil War in Al­tea. Set­ting off from the Tourist In­for­ma­tion of­fice at 10am with lo­cal guide Joan Such, it will pass along the prom­e­nade and along the old road as far as La Olla beach. The sec­ond will take place on 27th, start­ing at 10am from the town hall square and taken by nu­tri­tion­ist Ana Zaragoza to dis­cover the gar­dens of Al­tea.

The first Fe­bru­ary tour takes place on the 10th and in­tro­duces you to the Old Town by Al­ge­rian ar­chae­ol­o­gist Pe­dro Jaime Zaragozi, but to com­mem­o­rate the In­ter­na­tional Day of the Mother Tongue, will be taken in Va­len­ciano.

The sec­ond is on Feb 17th and head to Al­tea la Vella on the Camino Fondo with lo­cal guide Felipe Lozano. Both Fe­bru­ary tours will set off from the Tourist In­for­ma­tion of­fice on Calle Sant Pere on the seafront at 10am.

The last two planned tours are in March, on 10th and 24th. The first, on Sun­day 10th will dis­cover the His­tory and Ar­chae­ol­ogy of Cap Blanc and the sec­ond, ideal for chil­dren will take the Al­gar River Route.
