The Route to Innovation

BACKED UP BY THE SPORT MEDICINE INSTITUTE, ERGO PLUS IS AN ISOTONIC DRINK MARKED BY HIGH QUALITY STANDARDS READY TO BE UP TO PAR WITH SIMILAR PRODUCTS IN THE SPORTS MARKET

-

Outstanding scientific results support the Sport Medicine Institute as a leading center in the development of innovative products and services targeting highperformance athletes. Selling the only sportrelated drink ever made in Cuba in the world market and founding an International Sport Medicine Clinic are two of its top projects in a bid to strengthen the work this institution has conducted over the past 52 years.

The institute's head, Dr. Jorge Pavel Pino Rivera, told Excelencias that Ergo Plus is the result of a partnership with Coracan S.A., a joint venture, under the premise of replacing imports and guarantee proper hydration for Cuban athletes.

«After three years, we've already managed to generalize the drink among all Cuban highperformance athletes. During that timespan, we've helped the country sock away nearly $100,000 every year and, above all, we've contributed to preserving the health of our athletes. In addition to complying with the requirements for this kind of drink, Ergo Plus adds an essential amino acid that hastens the recovery process, and that particular addition makes it a very competitive product. Venezuela, Costa Rica, Mali and Peru have already posted requests, so we're now making preps to start selling it any time from now.

«It's also an aspiration of ours to found an International Sport Medicine & Anti-Doping Control and Education, that's part of the Foreign Investment Business Portfolio. With our country's experience and knowhow in medicine, this could no doubt be a very attractive project for any potential investor,» says Dr. Pino Rivera, who also referred to the new medical services the institute has recently added, such as regenerative therapy with stem cells, ozone therapy, osteopathy and chiropractic.
