LIDECA: Striding Firmly Along
The “Rolando Ayub” Coffee Processing Company, better known as LIDECA, strides firmly ahead to higher grounds. Quite soon, the company will turn 20 years as it remains expanding its horizons. This was proven by its stint through the recently-concluded 22nd edition of the FIAGROP fair, where the company wrapped up negotiations for coffee roasting with Lavazza, an Italybased firm, for the development or organic coffee to be sold in hard currency in the domestic market and abroad, without letting go of its exportable demands for green coffee.
From its innovative spirit, its latest production of coffee grafts with hypocotyledonar technology came into being, a solution that combines the strengths of Arabica coffee with Robusta coffee, while looking for solutions with the surplus of female labor arising after the rollout of technological equipment in the production process.
Today, LIDECA has jettisoned the use of methyl bromide in nurseries affected by nematodes, thus enabling the establishment of plantations free of this pathogen, which seriously affects the growth of Arabica coffee.
Among its short-term projections, LIDECA envisions an appellation of origin and a brand for its productions, which will bring greater prestige to the coveted grain up in the mountainous area of Santiago de Cuba, which already enjoys great acclaim in the international market.
