The Wonder of the Endless Landscape

THE EASTERN CIRCUIT, WITH ITS COMPREHENSIVE VISION OF REGIONAL TOURISM, IS DESTINED TO BECOME BOTH A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BENCHMARK

-

It is known that the Cuban archipelago has "the big island" as its main component, a long and narrow island where it is possible to identify three regions: the western, the central and the eastern, which rounds out that tourism universe seasoned with the addition of the natural magic that surrounds the First City of Cuba, Baracoa, the Monument City of Bayamo, and the Hero City of Santiago de Cuba, sound expressions of local cultures that remain riddled by the miscegenation generated by migration. Therefore, it boasts a rich history closely related to the future of the insular Caribbean, which has turned out to be a true high-flying cultural reservoir with a wide range of expressions characterized by its authenticity and roots. We recognize it from the Tumba Francesa to the Conga Oriental, from the bolero to the son, the changüí and other rhythms and beats that have left indelible marks in the universal musical repertoire.

This cultural vision allows us to pinpoint an extraordinary potential that is already becoming part of the new tourism offers this part of the world, so recognized by the variety of its music and dance, has to deliver; but also for its carnivals and popular festivals, its peculiar culinary culture, the exuberant presence of its scented and tasty fruits, such as the ones that grow in the surroundings of the El Caney. It allows us to understand the genesis of light rum and the powerful presence of coffee in their environment, which have been essential in regional life with broad contributions of their own, both economically and as far as sociocultural events are concerned.

Visiting beautiful and harmonious cities in the surroundings, such as Las Tunas, Guantanamo and Manzanillo, as well as urban landscapes cut out between the mountains and the sea, give this part of the country its own personality that proudly feels its role and scope as the birthplace of the Cuban nationality. It's a catalyst of the different stages of struggle led by the people for their independence.

In the east, the national history is pleased to show sublime scenarios of the people's struggle to achieve their final independence, sites such as the Moncada Barracks, the Morro de San Pedro de la Roca Castle, the historic parks associated with the Cuban-Spanish War. Cuban-Americans; the Patrimonial Cemetery of Santa Ifigenia, where a legion of the founding fathers of the nation rest eternally; the Mangos de Baraguá, where General Antonio Maceo staged his wellknown protest; Dos Ríos, where National Hero Jose Marti fell in combat.

The Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre and the path from the Bay of Nipe link the cities of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín in the north-south orientation, essential for its geographical position in a territorial context whose coastline has a set of excellent beaches and natural parks to brag about.

Teeming with a sum of highly valuable cultural landscapes, the Eastern Circuit is destined to become both a national and international benchmark in terms of specialized tourism, good enough to please the most demanding and updated tourists; its routes, trails and paths offer an unparalleled variety of opportunities to know and enjoy the most authentic Caribbean. Come and check by yourself, enjoy, from the most profound intimacy, the wonder of the endless landscape.
