Tucuman Enchants with its Rural Wonders

WITH THE FOUNDATION OF 30 HOTELS/FARM LODGES IN AGRICULTURAL LANDS AND OLD BUILDINGS IN THIS PROVINCE IN ARGENTINA, A KIND OF TOURISM MANAGED BY RURAL COMMUNITIES IS FOSTERED. IT CERTAINLY ALLOWS VISITORS TO KNOW AND INTERACT WITH ANCIENT PRACTICES

For many people, the city of Tucuman, in Argentina, has a very privileged position worldwide for several reasons: it is the city where singer Mercedes Sosa —the greatest singer of Argentine folklore ever— was born; it harbors Los Quilmes —second largest settlement site in South America; its lemons —world's top exporter of such citrus; or you have one of the most important museums in the land of tango. It is true, the Declaration of Independence of Argentina was a decision taken precisely in the Congress of Tucuman.

On top of all that, we will have to add to the list of treasures of the province its potential to become the champion of

Rural Community Tourism, a type of tourism managed by a community of indigenous people and farmers that allows visitors to know ancient practices and carry out activities unique in this lifestyle.

This was announced by Sebastian Giobellina —Tucuman´s Minister of Tourism— in FITUR, where the preliminary results of this experience were presented, endorsed by the foundation of 30 rural hotels/farm stays providing service in agricultural lands and old buildings in the province.

The Rural Community Tourism was the primary motivation that led around 20,000 tourists to visit Tucuman —also

known as the Garden of the Republic— in 2018. This practice of tourism has established itself as a cost-efficient alternative for rural communities, as it allows generating additional revenues.

Despite being the smallest province in Argentina, Tucuman´s industry shows more progress. With a correct management and right purpose, the province has enchanted national and foreign visitors with its rural world wonders.

A new mapping carried out by the metasearch engine Viajala on flights and hotels shows that it is now one of the tourist resorts with more search in internet. The growth rates reach in the region of 620%, according to data consulted in the official website of Tucuman´s Ministry of Tourism: https://www.tucumanturismo. gob.ar.

No doubts there are many attractions. But La Ruta del Vino, along the popular National Route 40, which gathers 18 wine cellars and Los Quilmes settlement site, the second largest in South America, only behind Machu Picchu, in Peru, are the favorite. The old Jesuit grazelands, full of history, architecture, and now taken by famed cheeseries, are unavoidable stops. Meanwhile, there is Amaicha del Valle, which is described by visitors as a place suspended in time, regarded as another magical place of the Garden of the Republic. The green color of the Hills in Chomorro conveys the promise of comfort, and the variety of possibilities is complemented by La Ruta del Artesano.

It is not random that there are actually 90 air frequencies with the rest of the country, a huge difference with the 12 existing back in 2012, only to Buenos Aires. Figures do not lie. Tucuman is committed to the development of rural tourism and has proven that sharing routines is not synonymous with boredom, but a healthy journey of discovery.

Favorite attractions for visitors are La Ruta del Vino, along the popular National Route 40, which gathers 18 wine cellars with wines produced at 2,000 meters above sea level; and Los Quilmes settlement site, second largest in South America, only behind Machu Picchu, in Peru.
