Cuba's Trump Card in the MICE Industry
THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTER, A STRONGHOLD WHEN IT COMES TO HOLDING EVENTS, TURNS 40 YEARS OLD
The International Conference Center in Havana, founded on September 3, 1979 during the 6th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Following that event, the center embraced the congress industry as the country's ideal venue, fitted out with requirements in terms of human resources, technology and facilities.
“The institution has met the objective of its foundation,” says Abraham Maciques, head of Grupo Empresarial Palco, “because it's been the venue of choice for major national and international events. Over 3,400 events have been held for a grand total of 1.4 million attendees, let alone its economic and social gains. We've seriously striven for the advance of this activity, fully aware of how much it means to the country by showcasing the fulfilment of its social, scientific, educational, sportive, political, economic and cultural goals.”
When referring to the entity's services and strengths, Maciques explains that “the International Conference Center is the leading venue in Cuba's MICE industry, the perfect setting for any event to succeed and repeatedly used by the most outstanding international bodies. Its high level of specialization, the prestige it has gained and the great ties it has with the realm of tourism, science and business are a trump card. And all this much is complemented by the professionalism, hospitality, reliance, trustworthiness, sense of belonging and commitment of its executives, specialists, technicians and all workers in general.”
