A culi­nary oa­sis on Madrid’s Golden Mile

The Meliá Ser­rano ho­tel’s new restau­rant Arado, in Madrid.

As stylish and chic as the neigh­bour­hood around it, the new Arado Gro­cery & Restau­rant has al­ready be­come a gath­er­ing place in the area near Calle Ser­rano, right in the heart of the Sala­manca dis­trict.

It’s based on gourmet prod­ucts and the best raw ma­te­ri­als in Spain, with a cock­tail bar and in­door ter­race that lend the restau­rant a re­laxed am­bi­ence. The ‘all-day din­ing’ con­cept lets you eat at any time, with dishes rang­ing from a tra­di­tional Span­ish stew to a burger made with meat sourced from the nearby Guadar­rama moun­tains.

Fea­tur­ing lo­cal DO in­gre­di­ents, the menu pays homage to tra­di­tional cook­ing, with soups and stews from all over Spain served daily. Tra­di­tional recipes are brought up to date by chef David Masllorens, a sea­soned vet­eran of the kitchens of pres­ti­gious restau­rants like

Arzak. His ex­pe­ri­ence al­lows him to ex­per­i­ment with pow­er­ful flavours, play­ing with tex­tures and tastes and el­e­vat­ing the con­cept of a tra­di­tional bistro.

The so­phis­ti­cated, mod­ern and com­fort­able space epit­o­mises the lux­u­ri­ous life­style of the sur­round­ing area.

It’s the per­fect place for a pit stop after a day of bou­tique shop­ping on Ser­rano, a busi­ness meet­ing, a long post-meal con­ver­sa­tion (a typ­i­cal Span­ish pas­time) or a re­lax­ing drink after work.
