LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to the latest edition of MStyle, a magazine that we hope will entertain and inspire you whilst you relax at our idyllic resorts and vibrant urban hotels. One of the main concerns for the modern traveller is sustainability, and our guests are more aware than ever of the role we must all play in protecting our planet, while still enjoying the best possible holiday experience.

That’s why sustainability plays a starring role in this issue, from our company’s commitment to eliminating single-use plastics from all of our hotels in 2018, to our partnership with Coca-Cola on the fantastic project ‘Mares Circulares’ (Circular Seas). You’ll also find out more about our new and environmentally conscious all-inclusive luxury brand, Paradisus by Meliá, in ‘The Observatory’.

As in every edition, we cover all four continents where our hotels are located. In the Caribbean, we stop by the Paradisus Los Cayos on Cuba’s Cayo Santa María. Along with the magnificent The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, it’s one of Meliá’s most significant new openings in the region this year. This will be followed by the opening of the spectacular Paradisus Playa Mujeres in the first quarter of 2019, consolidating Meliá’s leadership in the Caribbean premium resorts sector.

In Asia Pacific we visit the new Sol House Kuta Bali, and in Europe we present the incredible Calvia Beach The Plaza, a state-of-the-art hotel that’s the finishing touch on our extensive repositioning of Magaluf, a top European tourist destination. Our children’s entertainment programme, ‘Katmandu Adventures’, will excite visitors of all ages at our family-friendly resorts.

We also dive into the fascinating world of art in our urban hotels, from the Innside hotel in New York to the design trends at the ME Milan Il Duca, and discover the most intriguing neighbourhoods of the Eternal City— with the palatial Gran Meliá Rome on the Colle del Gianicolo as our base.
