LESSON 2: CRAFTSMANSHIP (ARTESANÍA)

-

WHY?

Craftsmanship is the art of creating intricate objects by hand. It’s that perfection and detail that comes from the things made from the heart. It’s the ability to keep the fir of ancient traditions burning through an object or a recipe.

THE HOTEL-SETTING:

Hotel de Mar, Majorca.

A MAGICAL MOMENT:

Every night of the summer, in a stylish setting right on the shore of the Mediterranean, chef Marga Coll displays her love for Majorcan cuisine in the romantic Arrels Restaurant. Her knowledge and admiration for the island’s cuisine has materialised into a seasonal, seven-course menu. It consists of products that come from the land, from Coll’s livestock pantry and from the sea – these ingredients shine on every plate, just as much, or more so than the stars.

THE EXPERTS:

Chef Marga Coll’s food is served on handmade dishes created by artist, designer and naturelover, Madrid’s own Andrea Zarraluqui, who designed them for the occasion. The colour, love and delicacy that she puts into each piece of porcelain makes them entirely unique. This devotion has led her to become the most famous porcelain-ware designer in Spain.
