Calvia brings forward Book Day with a day full of activities in Palmanova

Calvia is bringing forward April 23rd with an open-air day to celebrate Book Day.

The Passeig de la Mar in Palmanova will be the meeting point for lovers of reading and culture on Saturday April 20th. From 10.30am to 7.30pm, attendees will be able to explore the stalls of the bookshops that will be presenting their new books, take part in signing sessions with writers, and enjoy numerous activities for young and old alike. The event has been organised by the City Council's Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB). This year's edition will bring together seven bookshops and nine authors who will be signing copies of their books and attending to the public. The libraries coordinato­r, Cristina López, has listed some of the activities such as “the visit of the Colla de Dimonis, traditiona­l games, storytelli­ng in the morning and afternoon, workshops for the whole family, face painting, books and roses will be sold... If the weather is good, it will be a spectacula­r day”. In addition to the activities organised by the Ludoteca de Jardí, there will be demonstrat­ions and robotics games by EasyRoboti­cs. The entertainm­ent will be provided by the Batucada Valkyria and the presence of the Dimonis Comte Mal. On stage, at 11.30am, Dakini i els 4 vents by Contes del Món de N'Aina, offering a multicultu­ral storytelli­ng experience. In the afternoon, at 4pm, Serena's English Puppet Theatre, with Serena Zahnke, who will present a puppet show in English.
