A palace with a 159-year history has turned into a luxury hotel in the region of Plugia. Known for its commitment to safeguarding Italian tradition, it infatuates any traveler wishing to experience the authentic Italy. It seems these coastal villages are their best secret, which resist the passing of time and keep their lifestyle as close to tradition as possible. A refuge from modernity among marvelous white houses.

Palazzo Danielle resorts to minimalist ornaments to highlight the greatness of its original frescos, vaulted ceilings and mosaic floors. It’s the incarnation of the Italian spirit, combining its best art with gastronomic wonders in order to accommodate guests in a charming atmosphere. Its main commitment is with the local community in which it is located, under the motto “questa casa non è un albergo” — this house is not a hotel, — it reflects the hospitality and intimacy they offer to travelers.

In fact, since its construction in 1861, Palazzo Danielle has been home to four generations of the Danielle family before becoming the luxury hotel it is now. Located on a small coastal town, the building was re-decorated in 2018, replacing the old furniture for another with a plainer style. This change intends to emphasize the history of the rooms themselves, by creating an ideal energy flow that presents a combination of contemporary art, historical spaces and local culture to the public.

The relationship of the palace with the village in which it is located, Gagliano del Capo, goes back to the times of the unification of Italy. When combined with its privileged location in the town center, it provides tourists with exclusive local experiences: from tours in nearby farms to learning first-hand the trade of local fishermen. An offer complemented with traditional food that the Palazzo’s chefs offer their guests.

The guests themselves can learn how to elaborate those Mediterranean dishes thanks to the activities coordinated by the hotel, so they can experience a true immersive experience into Italian culture. Donata’s cooking lessons — Palazzo Danielle’s chef with whom tourists can spend two hours — are complemented by another three-hour session with a local chef, marinated with the best Italian wines to ease learning. Of course, for those who’d rather enjoy the food without having to elaborate it, the hotel offers The Last of Romantics, a complete dinner service in the delightful outside spaces that surround the building.

Besides vaulted and glamorous rooms and suites, with royalty-deserving beds, there are many common spaces where guests can relax. A cozy living room with a chimney for the winter, or ample gardens with orange trees, with views to the pool. In the property’s surroundings the Adriatic coast and the beaches of the Ionic Sea can be enjoyed and, once a year, the show Capo d’Arte is organized in the region, which attracts internationally recognized names.
