Shining stars to add glitter to Saturday’s spectacular event

‘Ridee Reyak 9' featuring the cream of Sri Lanka's popular movie and tele drama stars re-enacting popular cinema songs and clips from famous movies will unspool at the Lotus Pond Mahinda Rajapaksa Performing Arts Theatre on January 14 at 7 pm.

Cine Star Foundation which organises the much looked-forward-to annual glamour event said this year's show is going to be the biggest and grandest event ever to be held at the newlyunveiled world-class theatre in Colombo.

This year's two-and-a-half-hour ‘Ridee Reyak' extravaganza will feature popular stars such as Malani Fonseka, Ravindra Randeniya, Robin Fernando, Rex Kodippily, Roy De Silva, Cletus Mendis, Sriyani Amarasena, Veena Jayakody, Jeevan Kumaratunga, Sabeetha Perera, Sangeetha Weeraratne, Dilhani Ekanayake, Ranjan Ramanayake, Mahendra Perera, Yashodha Wimaladharma, Kanchana Mendis, Suraj Mapa, Suresh Gamage, Sriyantha Mendis, Kusum Renu, Chathurika Peiris, Anarkalli Aakarssha, Sachini Ayendra, Manjula Kumari, Anusha Damayanthi, Nilanthi Dias, Upeksha Swarnamali, Paboda Sandeepani, Channa Perera, Roshan Pilapitiya, Pubudu Chathuranga, Saranga Dissasekara, Roshan Ranawana and others. In addition to the stellar cast, the show is choreographed by internationally acclaimed dance choreographer Channa Wijewardene and scripted by renowned lyricist Nilar N. Cassim. ‘Ridee Reyak' has gained immense popularity and achieved cult status as a show that brings out the best of Sri Lanka's talent comes together on a common platform to present a veritable feast for the senses. This year's show has been sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Mobitel.

The show was conceptualized as a means to raise funds for the Cine Star Foundation, comprising 310 members, and towards the well-being and medical insurance scheme of its members. The evening will be marked by a special presentation of financial rewards to two deserving artistes.
