We award our cardholders with Rewards points worth more than 100 million rupees each year, where in-turn cardholders can redeem them instantly at their favourite stores”, stated Nadeesha Senaratne, Head of Credit Cards and Consumer Assets. He further added, “We believe in offering unmatched value to our cardholders, hence our decision to partner with some of the top merchants for the season to offer the best deals to cardholders. The month of December has resulted in phenomenal success generating value for both, our merchant partners and customers with a record spend in a single month

HSBC saw an overwhelming response from all its credit cardholders owing to the many rewarding credit card promotions carried out by the Bank during the month of December 2011. This has in-turn led to an outstanding increase in credit card spend exceeding several billion rupees surpassing all previous records. HSBC credit cards continue to penetrate the local market with almost 50% of the credit card spend in the industry.

The record spend not only signifies the popularity of HSBC credit cards and their widespread use in the market, but is attributed to the Bank’s many novel campaigns spread across multiple categories, including the popular seasonal “Cash Back” promotion which rewarded thousands of cardholders with cash back refunds, exceeding 10 million rupees.

Nilantha Bastian, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at HSBC, stated, “We are extremely delighted with this result and happy to be a dominant player in the credit card market in Sri Lanka. HSBC has taken the lead in being the first to introduce many novel promotions that have set the trend. The introduction of Cardholder Dines Free/cardholder Flies Free in the past and more recently the “Nail It” everyday promotion and seasonal campaign, that offered cash back refunds, has significantly helped increase our market share. We hope to introduce many more new offerings to enhance the lifestyle privileges of both existing and new customers in 2012.”

HSBC credit cards have become a phenomenon due to its international recognition, widespread acceptance that is beyond par with others and unbeatable rewards. Also, cardholders are assured of a warm welcome wherever they travel to in the world.

Further, the instant rewards programme that has gained widespread popularity in the country, entitles cardholders to enjoy rewards points each time they use their HSBC credit card at a variety of merchant part- ners, with the addition of fuel redemption at selected LIOC fuel stations, island-wide.

“We award our cardholders with Rewards points worth more than 100 million rupees each year, where inturn cardholders can redeem them instantly at their favourite stores”, stated Nadeesha Senaratne, Head of Credit Cards and Consumer Assets. He further added, “We believe in offering unmatched value to our cardholders, hence our decision to partner with some of the top merchants for the season to offer the best deals to cardholders. The month of December has resulted in phenomenal success generating value for both, our merchant partners and customers with a record spend in a single month.”

“Its really encouraging to see great interest shown by merchant partners to join with us on on-going credit card promotions, which target frequent spenders and the right target audience for their own products and services”, Senaratne further added.

The ability to communicate these offers through both traditional and non traditional channels speaks well of the Bank’s well planned communications strategy that has helped generate guaranteed sales for all its merchant partners. As a result, merchant partners have already committed to offering better rewards, privileges and benefits to HSBC cardholders with amazing savings and surprises, this year too.
