Swadeshi sponsors Kelaniya Viharaya Aloka Pooja

Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, Sri Lanka’s pioneer herbal-based personal care products company sponsored the ‘Aloka Poojawa’ of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya for the 13th successive year through the company’s flagship brand Kohomba, the first herbal soap manufactur­ed in Sri-lanka. The aloka pooja was held from January 5 to 8.

The Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya was built as a monument to the third and final visit of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka. Built in the reign of King Kirthi Sri Rajasinghe, the temple is dedicated to God Vibishana, one of the four guardian gods of Sri Lanka.

As a part of its annual CSR programme, Swadeshi supports the Aloka Poojas of all the temples that honour the four guardian Gods of Sri Lanka, Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya - God Vibishana, Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya - God Kataragama, Saman Devalaya Ratnapura - God Saman and Devundara Uthpalawar­na Sri Vishnu Maha Devalaya - God Uthpalawar­na Sri Vishnu. In addition, the company supports the annual ‘aloka poojawa’ of the Dambadeniy­a Raja Maha Viharaya encouragin­g traditiona­l and religious practice.
