NIROSHA LAUNCHES ‘BEATS OF HEART’

-

Popular songstress Nirosha Virajini made another tuneful turn in her career when she last week launched her music school called ‘Beats of Heart’ which will focus more on the techniques of voice training to cope with both Western and Indian classical aspects, breathing exercises, stage performing techniques, personal grooming and other areas.

A large number of distinguished personalties attended the event.

“This is the first time that such a school covering all these areas is being conducted here. There are music classes in the country and most of them mainly target music exams. But our objective is different. It goes beyond examinations. We will teach how one should vary the voice to sing ghazals, folk songs or other creations. The voice is going to be the main concern here. Although we are not going to be exams oriented, we will have a regular evaluation process,” said Nirosha whose school is situated at Longdon Hills, Longdon Place, Colombo 5.

“This school will completely groom a performer in music. Besides myself, there will be renowned personalities who will impart their knowledge and experiences to the students who will be categorized under two groups – Under 15 and Above 15. Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne, Rosy Senanayake, Praneeth Abhayasundera and lecturers from India will be among those who will guide the students. The course duration will be six months which will also include three compulsory workshops covering grooming and social etiquette, music history, various styles and pioneers and voice training techniques by an Indian trainer. In addition there will be a lesson on beauty and dress sense too, because a performer should always know how to look and conduct himself pleasantly,” said Nirosha.
