Kusa Paba premieres

The premiere of Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne’s much-hyped cine creation ‘Kusa Paba’ was held at Savoy Cinema, Wellawatte amidst a large gathering of distinguished guests including the contributors to the colourful movie.

Pooja Umashanker plays the role of Pabawathi in ‘Kusa-paba’ while the role of Kusa is played by award-winning actor Jackson Anthony.

The historic movie based on the 523rd story (Kusa Jathakaya) in the 550 Jathaka story series, is the maiden film production of the Filmmakers Guild of Sri Lanka.

Renuka Balasuriya and Dhammika Siriwardana are the co-producers while the other producers are Somaratne Dissanayake, H. D. Premasiri, Udayakantha Warnasuriya, Sunil T. Fernando, Ariyadasa Peiris, Tissa Nagodawithana, Janitha Marasinghe, Rasitha Jinasena and Justin Belagamage.

The other pivotal roles are being played by Ravindra Randeniya, Chandani Seneviratne, Veena Jayakody, Kusum Renu, Palitha Silva, Mahendra Perera, Roshan Ranawana, Mahinda Pathirage and others.

Kusa-paba is based on a screenplay by the late Tissa Abeysekara who had also written the dialogues while Somaratne Dissanayake is the Executive Producer.

Channa Deshapriya has handled the camera, Heenatigala Premadasa the art direction, Rohana Weerasinghe the music direction, Ravindra Guruge the editing, Chandana Wickremasinghe the dance choreography, Wenuka Wickremarachchi the costumes, Boodee Keerthisena the special effects and G. Karunapala the stunt direction.
