CIC Agri introduces seed coating technology
CIC Ag ri Businesses came up with another ‘first’ with the introduction of seed coating technology to the Sri Lankan farmers in another bid to enhance productivity in the ag riculture sector. The seed coating technology which is widely used in developed countries will be introduced to Sri Lankan far mers for all low country vegetable seeds.
Addressing the media and some of their key business partners, Waruna MadawanarachchDirector-cic Seeds outlined the many benefits that the farmers will receive by way of this new technology.
“T h i s t e c h n o l o g y p r ov i d e s a thin film of coating to agricultural seeds which will expedite the germination process and provide the protection to the young plants during the early stage of its g rowth. As a result, healthy and unifor m plants will be produced and these plants will be able to withstand soil and seed borne diseases and finally produce the potential harvest that is expected.”
CIC Agri Businesses which has been in the forefront of agriculture development in the island currently produces over 200,000 bushels of seed paddy and also a range of This technology provides a
thin film of coating to agricultural seeds which will expedite the germination process and provide the
protection to the young plants during the early stage of its growth local vegetable seeds in their farms in Hingurakgoda, Pelwehera and Thalawa and also through a 20,000 strong outgrower network that is scattered islandwide.
