CIMA organises Speechcraft workshop

-

Public speaking, or talking in front of others, consistently counts as one of the foremost fears of individuals. Many people consider public speaking ahead of death itself in their ranking of fears.

Often people avoid speaking in public at all costs because they are afraid of failure, criticism or a previous public speaking experience may evoke bad memories.

Public speaking is a common source of stress for everyone. Whether we work alone or with large numbers of people, eventually we will need to speak in public to get certain tasks accomplished. And if we want to be leaders or achieve anything meaningful in our lives, we will often need to speak to groups, large and small, to be successful. The truth about public speaking is it does not have to be fearful as we may fear! One has to correctly understand causes of public speaking fear, and keep just a few key principles in mind, speaking in public will soon become a stimulating and enjoyable experience.

Speechcraft is a short and practical programme that teaches the essence of public speaking.

The programme covers the basic of communication skills such as how to speak confidently in front of audi- ences, how to overcome nervousness, how to improve one’s presentation, listening and evaluation skills.

Participants will be taught the various aspects of public speaking such as organising your speech, working with words, varying your voice and using effective body language. Each participant will be afforded ample opportunities to practice their listening, speaking and thinking skills. To enable participants to get the most out of this programme, intake will be strictly limited to the first 25 participants who enroll.

This programme is conducted in a friendly and supportive environment by the members of the CIMA Toastmasters Club. CIMA Toastamasters have been conducting Speechcraft workshop for the past several years and is the most sought after programme for those who want to polish their public speaking and leadership skill.

We invite you to experience the power of public speaking through Speechcraft.

The programme commences on February 14, 2012 and will be conducted over ten days. Details could be obtained by contacting the CIMA Sri Lanka Division on mastercourses. srilanka@cimaglobal.com.
