Ranjith Chandrasekara heads SL Schools RFA 2012
The 20th Annual General meeting of Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association was held at the Nalanda College Colombo Auditorium January 28.
Ranjith Chandrasekara Principal Kingswood College was elected President for a tenure of two years uncontested.
Susantha Mendis was elected Secretary by contesting, who received a majority voting of 55 against Denzil Darling 11 votes.
The League tournaments and seven A-side under 20 tournaments were sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka Ltd, while the U/14 – 10 A- side, U/16 -12 A side, U/18 – 10 A-side, the Presi- dents Milo Trophy, the Premier Trophy and Chairman’s Trophy are sponsored by Nestle Lanka Pvt.
The teams par ticipated in the tournaments were grouped in two categories: Div. I and Div. II which comprisesof leading schools in the Island from six provinces. They are Western Province, Central, Ruhuna, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Wayamba. Susantha Mendis Secretary said that there were approximately 5000 par ticipants from 90 leading schools which took par t in the 2011 tournaments conducted by the SLSRFA.
Ranjith Chandrasekara President SLSRFA thanked his Excel- lency the President Mahinda Rajapakse for giving his whole heated suppor ts to the SLSRFA for conducting the Prestigious Presidents trophy last year which was grand success.
The SLSRFA was inaugurated in 1992. The finals of the various match categories were held in Colombo, Kurunegala, Kandy, Awissawella and Badulla.
The Office Bearers : President – Ranjith Chandrasekara, Deputy President – H. Sarath Chandra Silva, Secretary – Susantha Mendis, Asst. Sec. – Jagath Semasinghe, Treasurer – N.L Wettewa, Asst. Tres. – Prasantha Ranaweera and tournament Secretary – S.A. Gamini Sarathchandra. Also seven Vice Presidents were elected.
