Trinity looking for eighth outright win

Trinity will be looking forward for an early finish and also to record their eighth outright win of the Under 19 inter-school cricket season when play resumes on day two today at the Kalutara Esplanade.

Trinity have put themselves in a strong position after spinner Janishka Premasingh­e ran through the Kalutara MV bat- ting with a seven-wicket haul to bundle them out for just 88.From there on skipper Niroshan Dickwella who slammed a double ton in the previous match against Mahinda College Galle continued his form and led from the front with another fine knock of 88.

Niroshan got the suppor t of Heshan Wanniarach­chi and Akila Jayasundar­a who made knocks of 67 and 57 which saw them end the first days play making a massive score of 359 for 8 which has given them a formidable lead of 271 runs.

Pramod Hettiwatte wrecked the Thurstan batting with a six wicket haul helping his side bowl out their opponents to a low score of 105 to put Nalanda on top on day one in their Under 19 match played at Panagoda.

Nalanda in their turn thanks to an unbeaten knock of 88 by Ishan Rangana and a 69 by Koshan Danushka ended the day making 214 for 4.

The match between Richmond and DSS at Galle got off to a late star t with Richmond taking first lease of the wicket making 175 for 5 with A.K. Tyrone making a top score of 71.
