Dickwella and Madushan best from the rest

Niroshan Dickwella and Pasindu Madushan two captains of top cricket playing schools in the island Trinity and Ananda take the honours in the batting and bowling achievemen­ts from the Under 19 matches that were concluded over the weekend.

Left handed batsman Niroshan made a swashbuckl­ing knock of 212 in only 158 balls against Mahinda and incidental­ly this was also the highest individual score to be made by a cricketer from the top division category.

Pasindu who returned the best bowling per formence returns for the week with figures of 8 for 52 against St Anthony’s Katugastot­a went on to add another five wickets in the second innings which gave him a match bag of 13 for 109.

Apar t from Niroshan’s double ton there were 12 other tons scored from the matches that were played which came from Kushan Akalanka (Sri Sumangala Panadura), Duleeka Tissakutti­ge (Mahanama Colombo), Sajeewa Salgado (Thurstan), Manoj Sarathchan­dra (St Anthony’s Katugastot­a), Asiri Wickramana­yake (S. Thomas’), Kusal Mendis (Prince of Wales), Sudesh Ranasinghe (President’s Kotte), Tharindu Ashan (Sri Jayawarden­apura MMV), Aruna Dharmasena (Sri Sumangala P’dura), Sangeeth Cooray (St Sebastian’s), Ashan Wanigaratn­e and Kavindu Kulasekera both of Thurstan.

In the bowling depar tment there were three other bowlers who had seven wicket hauls Amrith Srimahan (Trinity), D.M. Dharmakeer thi (Ananda Sastaralay­a Kotte) and Supun Madusanka (DSS) while 15 bowlers ended with six wicket hauls.
