Harsha Cooray slams seasons third double ton

Chilaw Marians right hand batsman Harsha Cooray slammed the third double ton in the two week old Premier Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament to take batting honours after the completion of second round matches that were played during the weekend.harsha’s marathon knock of 231 was against Bloomfield while there were nine other centurions from the five matches that were played which came from Sachithra Serasinghe (Tamil Union), Chamara Silva (Bloomfield), Sachith Pathirana (Ragama CC), Umesh Karunaratn­e (Chilaw Marians), Ashen Silva (Lankan CC), Roshen Silva (Colts), Isuru Udana (Tamil Union), Kaushal Lokuarachc­hi and Kaushal Silva both of SSC.

There were three other batsmen in Bathiya Perera and Moeen Ali both of Moors and Angelo Perera of NCC who made twin half

tons and from the trio Bathiya and Angelo have been consistent having made tons in their previous match.

The best bowling returns came from Chathura Randunu of Tamil Union who had figured of 5 for 61 while Malinda Pushpakuma­ra was the only other bowler to have a five wicket haul and who ended with a match bag of nine wickets.

In the Tier ‘B’ category Ranga Cooray of Panadura SC came out on top with the bat when he slammed a 166 against Police SC while Dhanuja Nandana also of Panadura SC had the best bowling figures of 6 for 34.

It was not Chamara Kapugedera

It was Angelo Perera who made a knock of 126 against Badureliya CC and not Chamara Kapugedera as erroneousl­y published after the completion of the first round of matches last week.
