DO IT WITH BABY OCEANIC VIEW
My family and I spent a lovely weekend in Hikkaduwa enjoying the sand and sea. The children of course came home with sand in every nook and cranny and bags laden with shells and seaweed. Rather than throw out their precious treasures found along the seaside I thought we could make a lovely arts and crafts project that would remind then of the fun times in Hikkaduwa.
Things that they would need
Sandwich-size zip-lock bag
Glue
Sand
blue bristle board Small shells and other paranaphelia found on the beach
Paint and brush
Take the sandwich bag and trim it along the top but make sure not to cut of the zipper
On the bristle board paper cut out two rectangular shapes which are about 1cm bigger than the sandwich bag.
Take one of the shapes and cut a smaller rectangular shape inside, so you get a picture frame shape. I would make the internal rectangular shape a little bit smaller than the sandwich bag.
On the uncut rectangular shape you can if you wish draw a beach scene with seagulls and a palm tree blowing in the wind.
Take your sandwich bag and fill with a tablespoon of sand and with the small shells and seaweed found on the beach.
Then take your filled sandwich bag and place on the bristle board with the beach scene. The sand settles on the bottom and you can see your beach scene through the sandwich bag.
Take the frame made out of the other bristle board and place on top of the filled sandwich bag. Glue the two bristle board shapes together.
You now have a framed piece of the beach, my daughter has hung hers on her window and with the sun shining through it looks like we have bought a piece of the Hikkaduwa beach home with us.
