MANAGERKIL­LED IN FIRST EXPRESSWAY FATALITY

A 26-year-old man died on the spot in the first fatal accident on the Southern expressway at Dodangoda in Kalutara early yesterday morning, police said.

They said the car had veered off the highway and skidded along a side drain for some 50 meters and crashed on to a rock. On impact, the body had been thrown out of the wreckage landing 10 feet away.

The driver Arosh Yeshan Cooray, a resident of Dehiwela, was the manager of a private establishm­ent in Matara.

The victim’s body was taken to the Nagoda hospital while the wreckage of the car was handed over to Kalutara North Police for further inquiries.

Gelenigama Expressway Traffic Police OIC Sisira Kumara, PC 33409 Chandana and 14612 Stephen are conducting further inquiries on the instructio­ns of Director Traffic Division SP Erick Perera.
