A Muslim politician in the government yesterday charged that one of his colleagues was involved in bringing down an Islamic scholar who had been a suspect in the World Trade Centre bombing in 2001 to conduct a series of lectures on peace building.

This politician, who did not wish to be named, told Daily Mirror yesterday that the Department of Immigration and Emigration had taken steps to deport him from the country as soon as they realized who he was.

He said that he had urged the Emigration Controller to put a stop to the tour of the country by this ‘wanted man’ and the latter had assured him that action would be taken to deport him from the country.
