Suspect found dead in court cell

A suspect was found dead last morning in a remand cell in court when his case was called. The forty-year-old man had been taken into custody for possessing 8 grams of ganja and was pro- duced in court by the Akkaraipattu police.

Police believe that he might have died of a heart attack. However, the deceased’s body was referred to the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital for a postmortem.
