Batepola Sinhala Ekamutu cultural show
A programme to revive traditional folk dancing and theatre and protect the age-old cultural heritage of Sri Lanka for austerity has been launched by the Batewela Sinhala Ekamutu Cultural Organisation in Panadura. With this in view they organised a show of devil dancing with the participation of artistes who excelled in the Bentota, Matara and Raigama traditions. More than 15 artistes led by Rasika Welihinda from Matara participated. The Sinhala Ekamutu Organisation stressed the need to protect the art of folk dancing that in the past provided entertainment and served as a cure for mental disorders.
